What we’re building (and why)

YouthBuild is a pre-apprenticeship model that combines education, occupational skills training, and job placement for opportunity youth—paired with wrap-around supports. If funded, our program will deliver a structured pathway into quality jobs and Registered Apprenticeships while completing affordable housing construction/rehabilitation in our community.

Who we serve

Opportunity youth (16–24)

Young adults facing barriers to employment and education—supported with coaching, case management, and practical resources.

What we deliver

Credentials + real work

Industry-recognized credentials, work-based learning, and a clear transition plan into employment, apprenticeship, or postsecondary education.

Community benefit

Affordable housing impact

Hands-on construction training tied to building or rehabilitating housing for low-income and/or homeless households.

Program flow

A cohort-based model with education + skills training + leadership development, followed by a 12‑month post-exit follow-up and placement support.

  • Recruit & enroll: outreach through schools, juvenile justice partners, housing programs, and community orgs.
  • Assess & plan: individualized education and career plans, barrier mitigation, supportive services.
  • Train & credential: construction core + optional Construction Plus track(s).
  • Place & retain: job placement and/or apprenticeship entry, plus 12 months of follow-up services.

What we need from partners

Strong partnerships are central to YouthBuild success. We’re building commitments across workforce, education, employers, and housing development.
